Navy helicopter crash – Two bodies found

The wreckage was found by another helicopter of the Navy which was participating in the search

Greek authorities found the two bodies of the three missing Navy officers who were on the Hellenic Navy helicopter that crashed on Kinaros islet on Thursday morning, while the third Navy officer is still missing.

The wreckage from the helicopter of Hellenic Navy was found at the islet of Kinaros. The AB-212 helicopter, which was taking part in a military exercise, was reported missing at 2.45 a.m. The helicopter was flying at an altitude of 390 feet when it disappeared from the radars.

The last time the helicopter was spotted was at the islet of Kinaros located in the sea area between Cyclades and Dodecanese cluster, west of Kalymnos and Leros islands and east of Amorgos islands.

The reasons of the crash have not yet been known.

Alternate Defence Minister Dimitris Vitsas and the chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff said: “We cannot yet express our condolences because we have not found them.”
