Greek major opposition party New Democracy has reacted to the the victory of Spanish Popular Party in the country’s general elections, Sunday, with ND spokesperson George Koumoutsakos tweeting ‘No Podemos’. New Democracy’s press office released the following press statement on the result of the Spanish elections: ‘The clear victory of Mariano Rajoy is an answer to populism. At the same time the clear defeat of Podemos illustrates that the European citizens are turning their backs to those making false promises. An ending note: we wonder where Mr. Papadimoulis is today, after rushing to celebrate a supposed Podemos victory. A little mote seriousness would be advised’. ND President Kyriakos Mitsotakis tweeted on Monday morning ‘The Spanish people gave their answer to populism’.
