New govt faced with huge task of collecting revenue

Overdue debts to state reach 80bln Euros

Debts towards the Greek state leaped to 80bln euros during the 7-month period of the SYRIZA reign, according to public data. The new government will have to face the daunting task of overdue taxes and the prospect of implementing income confiscations on Greek citizens once it is sworn in. In August alone, new overdue debts to the Greek state increased by 645mln Euros, despite the ‘hailed’ 100 down-payment arrangements for debtors. The new government will be forced to put into effect the provisions it passed in the new bailout plan, namely:

-An automated system of confiscations

-A list with debtors owing over 70,000 Euros, who will face the first confiscations.

-The 25% limit for confiscations of salaries and pensions.

-The non-confiscation limit for wages and pensions is lowered to 1,000 Euros from the previous 1,500.

-The 20 Euro per month payments are no longer in effect.

-Citizens included in some payment arrangement will be forced to pay more.

-There will be a rise in the interest rate for payment of as until now debts up to 5,000 Euros were not burdened with interest.
