New proposal by lenders – Two VAT rates and no SSBP

Minister Pappas complained to EC Pres. Juncker’s colleague

Two different VAT rates, with the highest one at 23%, as well as a cancelation of the Social Solidarity Benefit for Pensioners, are the terms included in the new proposal of lenders towards Greece. According to the same sources, the IMF sent a letter to Athens yesterday, describing the steps that need to be taken. Specifically, the IMF’s letter reiterated the Fund’s position for the transference of many basic products towards the 23% VAT rate.

According to sources, Minister Nikos Pappas complained on the content of said proposals to a colleague of EC president Jean-Claude Juncker.
