Nine more refugees from Lesvos welcomed by Pope Francis

They are six adults and three children

Pope Francis took nine more refugees from the Greek island of Lesvos, following consultations with the Greek government, the Vatican press office announced on Friday.

The refugees, who were hosted in Kara Tepe camp until now, are six adults and three children, all Syrians and two of them are Christians. They arrived in Rome on Thursday, following a joint effort by the Greek ministry of interior, the asylum service and the Catholic voluntary Community of Sant’Egidio in the Italian capital.

Pope Francis has already welcomed three refugee families, whom he brought back to Rome after his visit to Lesvos on April, 16. These families are now living in Tome and are learning Italian supported financially by the Vatican.
