Pana beat Zalgiris Kaunas (84-76) in opening Euroleague match

“Greens” to face Euroleague champs CSKA away in round two

Panathinaikos opened their Euroleague campaign with a victory on home turf, Friday night, at OAKA basketball stadium by defeating Lithuanian team Zalgiris Kaunas 84-76. In front of a 10,000 strong home crowd, the match was up for grabs for the most part, but the “greens” managed to clinch the win in the 4th quarter with guard Nikos Pappas, who played a pivotal role by draining 3 three-pointers in the crucial final quarter, leading his team’s scoreboard at the end of the night with 19 points. In their next match Pana will travel to Moscow to take on last season’s Euroleague champions CSKA Moscow.
