Panos Kammenos: We voted laws that do not comply with Constitution

“Some of the measures do not comply with the spirit of the Constitution,” he said

Minister of Defence Panos Kammenos, who also leads the junior coalition partner Independent Greeks,  confessed that the SYRIZA-ANEL government passed laws that do not comply with the spirit of the Constitution.

Asked about the abolition of the discounted VAT rate on the islands, Mr. Kammenos argued that “we managed to maintain many privileges that apply to the islands but couldn’t achieve what the Article 101 of the Constitution mentions about the islands” essentially reiterating what he had claimed in the past, when he said that  abolishing the discount on VAT rate for islands is “criminal and unconstitutional”.

When Mr. Kammenos was asked on whether he claims that the measures are against Greece’s Constitution, he answered: “there are some measures that are not very pleasant and some of them do not comply with the spirit of the Constitution.”
