PASOK asks for document requesting loan agreement extension

Yesterday, the government released the transcripts of the two speeches delivered by Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis at the two critical Eurogroup meetings on February 11 and 16.

Via its official Twitter account, PASOK, the junior socialist partner of the previous coalition government, called for the release of the document requesting an extension of Greece’s loan agreement with its eurozone creditors. The application was tabled on Thursday in Brussels.

A request for the six-month extension of Greece’s loan agreement was submitted by the leftist Greek government to secure a “protection umbrella for Greece’s financial system.”

The request clarified that Athens asks for an extension of the loan agreement and not the whole bailout agreement (memorandum), that the ruling party has vowed to scrap.

A day earlier, the government released transcripts of the comments made by Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis at two critical Eurogroup meetings on Feb. 11 and 16.

In its tweet, PASOK argues that the same procedure must be followed for today’s request.
