Pensioners protest against huge lines in the sun! (pics + vid)

Pensioners who protested outside the Ministry of Finance on Friday will meet with Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos on Monday

There is no end to the suffering of frail pensioners who line up in the sun on a daily basis in the hope of receiving a fraction of their pension payments. Added to the lines of pensioners outside a few banks that have opened to allow them to withdraw 120 euros each, are two new groups – namely the unemployed and pensioners from abroad.

The government is also examining placing a ceiling of 1,000 euros per traveler for those wishing to travel abroad.

Meanwhile ATM machines continue to have limits of 50- and 60-euro withdrawals per day resulting in huge lines of people waiting for their daily dose of cash.

PENSION!

Pensioners outside the Ministry of Finance

Pensioners gathered outside the Ministry of Finance on Nikis Street to protest. They were unable to meet with the new Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos as they had hoped due to the fact that he was meeting with SYRIZA lawmakers in Parliament to debate the government’s new proposals.

The pensioners reported that they managed to get an appointment to meet with the minister on Monday at a time to be confirmed by the minister.
