Piraeus Mayor requests a halt in PPA privatization efforts

In a letter to Prime Minister Samaras

Mayor of Piraeus Mr. Moralis seems to have already begun reforms in his municipality. He appears to have sent Prime Minister Antonis Samaras an official letter, underlining that “the port of Piraeus should not be sold”. The mayor’s intervention follows the latest revisions of plans to private 67% of the PPA (Piraeus Port Authority), pointing out that the growth prospects and the port’s competitiveness will be enhanced if the PPA shares remain in the public sector instead of being sold off to private interests.
