Police saved a 75 year old from drowning in Vonitsa

The police located the nearly unconscious 75 year old man about 300 meters from the shore – A sergeant jumped into the sea and managed to catch the elderly and take him to the coast

The intervention of the sergeant of Vonitsa police department was vital in saving the 75 year old man from drowning while he was almost unconscious.

Specifically, at noon swimmers phoned the police station and reported that an elderly person was in immediate threat of drowning in the sea area of Vonitsa.

Immediately the 26 year old sergeant rushed to the coastal region, along with other officers of the same police department and traffic policemen who were patrolling the area of Agrinio.

The police have identified the 75 year old man in a supine position, almost unconscious about 300 meters from the shore. Immediately one sergeant jumped into the sea and having approached the 75 year old managed to catch him and take him to the coast.

Simultaneously, with the help of other police officers and an individual who provided his boat, the 75-year was transferred to shore unharmed. Then the old man was transferred to the health center of the area and onwards to the hospital in Preveza, where he is currently hospitalized out of danger.
