Pope Francis: I only have two to three year of life left

He did not exclude the possibility to resign before the end of his life

Two to three years of life gives to himself Pope Francis without excluding the possibility to resign over this period.

Speaking to reporters on the flight back from South Korea, the Pontiff was asked about his popularity of which was clearly demonstrated during his visit to the country in the Far East.

“I see it as a bounty from God. I try to think about my mistakes, my sins, and not to feel proud. Because I know that this will only last for a short time. Two or three years the most and then I’m going to meet my Creator “was the reply of the Pope.

The 77year old Francis may have no spoken before about this, but a source of the Vatican, according to the Guardian newspaper, said that the Pope has previously spoken to those close to him about the time he has left.

After answering to the above question the discussion turned to the possibility of his withdrawal from the papal throne, with Pope Francis not excluding  the possibility as did his predecessor Benedict, if he feels that he can not fulfill his duties satisfactorily. “Benedict XVI opened a door,” added the Pope by noting that 60 years ago such an event was unheard of.
