Putin advises Russian tourists to stop visiting Turkey

Russian President Vladimir Putin called on Russians to stop visits to Turkey following the downing of the Russian Su-14 jet by two Turkish F-16 fighter planes. On Wednesday morning, Putin said that we cannot exclude the possibility of more incidents such as the one noted on Tuesday. He said that there would be strong retaliation if it were to occur.

Putin agrees with the Russian Defense Ministry’s proposal to deploy S-400 missile systems to Hmeymim airbase in Syria.

He pointed to the Turkish leadership’s policy of encouraging ‘Islamization’ was a problem in Turkey. He also confirmed that a second pilot from a Russian warplane that was shot down has been rescued.

Putin said that the plane had been attacked when it waws 1 km inside Syria and he warned of “serious consequences” for the “accomplices of terrorists.” He told Russian citizens that citizens in Turkey may be in danger.
