It was a sight that you don’t usually see on a news beat, yet here was the television reporter, microphone in one hand and a … baby in another, asking a politicians questions.

The image later went “viral” on Greek social media. It showed reporter Eleni Lazarou, from the private Athens TV station Mega, holding her son while on a news assignment covering the now “uber controversial” Alternate Migration Minister Tasia Christodoulopoulou.

In comments to protothema.gr, Lazarou said her husband is often away on business in the northern city of Thessaloniki, while both her parents and in-laws live even further away.

She said her co-workers were surprised when the photos of her holding little Anastasis were posted, saying that another reporter would have been sent on assignment had they known she had no babysitter.
