Reuters: Kremlin denies striking deal for 5 bln euro advance to Greece

He reiterated that the Greek side had not requested financial assistance from Russia during talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras earlier this month

The Russian president’s press spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, denied on Saturday a report by German magazine Der Spiegel suggesting that Russia has made a deal with Greece to offer the Mediterranean country an advance of 3-5 billion euros from the anticipated profits of the Greek natural gas pipeline.

In his comments to the radio station ‘Business FM’ Peskov said that such an agreement doesn’t exist. Moreover, he reiterated that the Greek side had not requested financial assistance from Russia during talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras earlier this month.

With regard to the agreement on the pipeline, due to be signed in Athens next week, Peskov said the two sides had agreed that there would be meetings on the level of technical expert to sort out all issues connected with cooperation.
