Samsung: Donates 3.000 smartphones to the fight against Ebola

The phones will be distributed in 60 medical centers in the countries of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone in order for Isolated patients can communicate with their families and medical staff will use the phones to collect useful medical information

Samsung Electronics announced that will donate 3.000 smartphones worth 1 about 1 million US dollars, in order to support the fight against Ebola.
The mobile phone devices will be given to the UN office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and will be used for the «Humanitarian Connectivity Project», which provides humanitarian assistance in affected areas through mobile devices.
The latest new Galaxy S3, will be distributed in 60 medical centers in the countries of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone in order for Isolated patients can communicate with their families and medical staff will use the phones to collect useful medical information.
It is worth mentioning that all 3.000 smartphones will be destroyed once the virus outbreak gets resolved.
Finally, Samsung also supports a range of efforts in order to address the Ebola virus in Africa. In addition, the company has announced a SMS service for Ebola virus that is available in South Africa.
