Schulz implies Erdogan had purges of political opponents prepared before coup!

Erdogan wants sole power in Turkey, Schulz says

European Parliament President Martin Schulz made some comments in an interview to German state radio station ‘ARD’ insinuating that things might not have been as clear cut as believed concerning the failed coup attempt in Turkey. ‘I am under the impression that the amateurish plan of the coup is met with a very professional response. To be able to identify in a matter of only a few hours 13,000 people, who are either arrested or suspended from their duties is a real feat’, he noted, commenting on the fact that Erdogan had rounded up thousands of his political opponents in a short time after the coup had failed. Schulz categorically ruled out any prospect of Turkey entering the EU if it decided to reinstate the death penalty. ’Turkey is on the path of becoming a one-man state, where anyone who criticises Erdogan is declared an anomy of Turkey’, Schulz said, adding that the Turkish President wanted to monopolise the power in his country. The German politician scolded Erdogan’s rhetoric of ‘purges’ and ‘extermination of metastasis’, saying the use of such language was not part of a parliamentary democracy but of ‘an autocratic hegemon’.
