Shangri-La hotel opens the highest swimming pool in Western Europe

The pool area was designed by Hong Kong-based interior designer Andre Fu

On the 52nd floor of the Shard skyscraper, London’s tallest building, the 34ft infinity “skypool”, as it is being referred to by the hotel, stands 600ft above the city, offering unimpeded views over the Thames, Westminster and St Paul’s Cathedral.

The pool area was designed by Hong Kong-based interior designer Andre Fu, who is also responsible for the hotel’s Gong bar, located on the same floor.

Guests at the luxurious hotel have exclusive use of the beautiful pool, the highest in Western Europe, from 6am to 8pm each day.

However, from 8.30pm onwards, the public will be able to catch a glimpse of it when they visit the hotel’s Gong bar, although entering the pool itself will be off limits.
