‘Shock and awe’ at ATMs for low pensioners!

Their 810 Euro pensions cut to 410 Euros, as government slashed 40% instead of agreed 20%!

Thousands of low-pensioners were in for a shock, from Tuesday afternoon at the ATMs. They discovered their meagre 810 Euro pensions per month had been slashed to 420 Euros, in accordance to the terms agreed in the 3rd memorandum between the Greek government and Labour Minister George Katrougalos and the country’s creditors. 150,000 low pensioners will gel the brunt of the new 3rd memorandum reality, as they will see 40% of their income cut, although the deal provided for an initial 20% cut! The slashing of the Special Solidarity Benefit for Pensioners (EKAS) will affect the less privileged pensioners, while the other harsh measure still to be implemented in a month foresees the cutting off ancillary pensions for 250,000 recipients with monthly pensions from over 1,300 Euros gross.
