The suburb of Kolonos, Athens center, has shocked on Friday after a young woman, aged 18 years, leaped to her death from the 8th floor of her apartment block. The incident took place seven years after her father met his tragic death in the same way! The girl’s father had committed suicide due to stress he suffered after being unable to meet his debts.

Police are currently investigating at the scene of what appears to be a suicide, though homicide has not been ruled out. The young girl lived with her older brother at Gerakiou Street, Kolonos. She had successfully completed her Panhellenic exams last June and had been accepted to the Faculty of Science of the University of Athens whereas her brother was in his final year of Law School.

Neighbors were shocked by the incident.
