Spetses joins the classy Tweed Run through time…

The first Tweed Run takes place on the classy, carless isle of Spetses on November 1-2

Greeks will be initiated to the Tweed Run as it leaves its home in London and moves to Spetses from November 1-2. Known in the UK as “A Metropolitan Cycle Ride With a Bit of Style”, it requires participants to dress up in tweed jackets and vintage suits, drive slowly and enjoy a journey through time. The competition has little to do with speed and everything to do with style as those who look the classiest will be awarded prizes as the best dressed cyclists.

The “proper” cycling attire includes vintage trousers, jackets, woolen jerseys and coats, skirts and capes and other accessories such as bow ties, scarves, neckties, suspenders and caps.

The first Tweed Run was held in London, UK, in 2009, however it has become an annual event with many sponsors and Tweed Runs around the world.

Classy carless and cosmopolitan Spetses is ideal for a Tweed Run full of elegance and pizzazz. The Tweed Run will quite aptly start from the island’s famous Poseidonian Grand Hotel that recently celebrated its centennial anniversary.
