The Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) State Minister for Government Coordination A. Flambouraris confirms Proto Thema’s reportage prior to the elections

State Minister for Government Coordination, Alekos Flambouraris, admitted that he is one of the two ministers being investigated for omissions to assets declarations submitted to Greek Parliament. Speaking on private MEGA TV, Flambouraris confessed that he had not transfered shares from his company as he had been obliged to do, thus confirming reportage that appeared on Proto Thema prior to the national elections on September 20. Despite, at the time, being outraged by revelations he blamed for being sensationalist, he now admits they are true.

“When I was sworn in as minister on January 26, 2015, the shares hd been transfered,” he said. “The assets declaration has data from 2014. In the assets for 2015, I will declare the changes and there will be no shares transfered,” he said. Flambouraris admitted that the statement submitted to Greek Parliament in April 2015 for the financial year of 2014 show him as key shareholder of the company DIATMISI S.A. wher ehe maintains that the transfer will be declared in the next assets statement for the current year.

Relevant officials from Greek Parliament’s audit committee, however, told Proto Thema that Flambouraris is not in accordance with the law. They specify that the assets statement concerns the minister’s activities for 2014 for which he was obliged to list all activities until April 2015. He had failed to present the appropriate documents and his shareholding activities in a private company are not in accordance with the rules for parliamentarians.

The other case being probed concerns a member of parliament that failed to declare an income of a million euros in the past three years, but who had added an additional statement when making the declaration this year.
