Tension at Piraeus – Port authorities announce port’s evacuation

The immigrants and refugees remain in their tents refusing to leave

Tension at Piraeus port as port authorities inform over 4,600 refugees and immigrants, who are staying at passenger terminals of the port, that they should leave the makeshift camp.

“The temporary stay is over and you should go to proper hosting facilities that the government has created. They are equipped and are suitable for your staying. Please stat packing up the tents” the harbormaster told refugees with the help of an interpreter.

For Afghans there are buses that will take them to the reception center at Scaramanga, while Syrian nationals will be transferred to a temporary reception center in Alexandria Imathia region.

A coach is waiting outside the gate E2 to transfer a group of people to northern Greece, but, until now no immigrant or refugee has accepted to get on.

The immigrants and refugees remain in their tents refusing to leave, while holding piece of papers saying “we are tired”.
