The “Blue Lagoon” of Epirus (video)

A rare landscape, not known to many…

There is a small sign on the old Ioannina – Patras national highway in Terovo, that points to Louros Springs. From there, only five minutes away, there is a place that brings to mind the exotic location where the Blue Lagoon movie was filmed.

The place is like paradise on earth. A rare landscape, not known to many.

The new national highway that does not pass the side road that leads to Louros Springs makes the place more difficult to spot. What is even more rare about the lake is the extremely rich vegetation at the bottom. Other than the water lilies and seaweed, one can see whole trees that are visible from its surface.

What is also majestic about the lake is the reflection of the Alpine landscape that surrounds the lake on the surface of its blue waters.

Louros Springs is a place not to be missed. It is only about a 30-minute drive from the city of Ioannina and 15 minutes from the Vrellis Wax Museum.
