The wait is finally over, as the notorious for her tough, ‘no-nonsense’ approach Romanian ‘star’ representative of the IMF, Delia Velculescu has landed in Athens. Her arrival at the Athens Hilton Hotel was indicative of her ‘special’ status, something usually reserved for high profile royals or celebrities.
She was accompanied by 20 security guards provided by the Greek state and numerous officials from the Greek finance ministry as she passed the main entrance of the Hilton just before 8 pm Thursday. She was immediately taken to her room then joined the negotiations taking place in another room of the hotel.
The Romanian negotiator gained the nickname ‘Draculescu’ during her involvement in the Cypriot bailout plan due to her unyielding stance.
