The great Amphipolis sham! Just sawdust in our eyes…

Amphipolis revisited…

Athens Archeological Institute head Vasilios Petratos said that the Amphipolis Tomb, last year’s top archeological discovery, was just a poorly staged play aimed at distracting the Greek people from the scorching hot austerity measures planned by the previous conservative New Democracy party. Petratos said that the burial tomb and its mystery celebrity occupant was just a contrivance aimed at drawing attention away from Greece’s more serious problems.

The visit by former prime minister Antonis Samaras, shown around the site by lead archeologist Katerina Peristeri (former ND candidate), was just a trick! Not only did Petratos zero the importance of the excavation but he also accused archeologists and other persons of joining in the conspiracy.

According to Petratos, the work at Amphipolis last summer was not about archeology as ignorance led to loss of data of great importance to those who really want to study the place. “The monument itself has not offered anything new and valuable historical and archeological data has been lost because of mistakes made by the people who ignored scientific methodology,” he said.
