The Greek Atheist Union demand the abolition of all religious-associated expression in public services

They call on parties to present their agenda on matters

The Atheist Union of Greece is calling on the Greek political parties to present their positions on matters the group raised to the previous SYRIZA-ANEL government concerning education, public administration and the Penal Code. The demands of the Atheist Union revolve around matters such as the replacement of the phrase in the Greek constitution “In the name of the Holy Consubstantial and Indivisible Trinity”, as well as the scrapping of the phrase “our Lord Jesus Christ” claiming it is ‘does not represent the whole of the citizens’. The group also demands the complete abolition of the recording of citizens’ religious faith on state documents, as well as all religious ceremonies (sanctification, attending mass, prayers, holy liturgies etc) in all public services. Furthermore, they want the complete scrapping of religious oaths in court rooms, while they demand the abolition of religious studies in education.
