Do you dare to tread the most dangerous path in the world? (photos)

Near Malaga, Spain

The most dangerous mountain path in the world is in Spain. The path had been closed down to the public for 14 years, but reopened last year in March.

It is a three-kilometer-long path on the edge of a cliff, looming 100 meters over the Desfiladero del los Gaitanes. It was shut in 2001 after the death of five people who tried to cross between 1999 and 2000.

After a protective glass pane was installed, the path will be opened to the public once more.

John Kramer, a local man who walked the path in April of 2013 admits that it was completely crazy since a month ago, a safety cable had snapped and an Italian climber had fallen about 80 meters. The most peculiar part is that the climber was completely fine!

Kramer, however, states that the path is now much safer and that he is willing to walk it with his family.

For those wishing to take the walk, they need to travel to El Chorro, a village southwest of Malaga.

The path’s name means “The King’s Path”, it was completed in 1905 and was used by workers who used to transport supplies to those working on the Guadalhorce dam.
