The taxi driver who was carrying Maziotis is being released

The young driver convinced the police officers that there is no connection between him and the fugitive terrorist

After a long interrogation by the counter terrorism police department, the driver of the taxi in which the terrorist Nikos Maziotis attempted to flee during the midday confrontation in Monastiraki was released.

The young driver convinced the police officers that there is no connection between him and the wanted fugitive terrorist and described the scene in which he randomly passed by the point without noticing that there was a shootout and saw suddenly Maziotis opening the door of the taxi and trying to get in. As he said, he saw the gun in his hand and panicked, leading to his pressing on the accelerator and keeping on driving.

The taxi driver was spotted two hours after the bloody brawl at the area of Peristeri, where he gave a signal to the taxi center, and then police officers handcuffed him and drove him to the counter terrorism offices, where he was questioned to determine if he was an accomplice of the captured terrorist.
