“They threatened to burn me and break my fingers,” burglary victim says

A police investigation is underway to find the burglars who, according to the victim, were Georgians.

Tanning salon owner Anastasia Sangioni, the victim of a burglary that took place on Thursday morning in her house in Pefki, a suburb in the northeastern part of the Athens, talked to protothema.gr about her terrifying experience.

The burglars broke into her home at approximately 4:00 am, with their faces covered with scarves and caps. At the time Ms. Sangioni was at home with her 12-year-old daughter and her female friend.
“They put their hands over our mouths to prevent us from screaming,” the victim said.

When the burglars broke in, her child was sleeping beside her and a friend of hers was sleeping on the couch. The thugs pulled her and her daughter out of bed and tied them with duct tape.
“We were tied up in fetal position. They kept asking for money and jewelry, threatening to hurt my daughter,” Ms. Sangioni added.

The burglars became violent when Ms. Sagkioni’s friend started screaming and also threatened to burn her and break her fingers with an iron stick if she didn’t show them where she kept her valuables. After searching the house for approximately one and a half hour, the burglars left.
