Traditional Spanish parties lose ground to Podemos and Ciudadanos

In the Spanish regional elections

The Spanish People’s Party (PP) is heading towards its worst result since 1991 after the regional elections.

PP will still be the party with the highest percentage on a national level with 26.5% of the vote. The Socialist party comes as a close second since they achieve 25.5% according to first results. Despite all that, even the Socialist party’s votes are down by 775,000.

The PP has lost 2.55 million votes since the 2011 elections, both to new parties such as Podemos and Ciudadanos.
