Tsipras to IMF: We will do whatever we want with our budget surplus (video)

Attacks IMF Poul Thompsen

PM Alexis Tsipras blasted Greece’s creditors from the island of Nisyros, where he announced a series of measures in support of the Aegean islands. Tsipras accused the country’s lenders saying they were “stupid technocrats”, clearly insinuating IMF official Poul Thomsen for his post in the Fund’s website where the head of the IMF’s European branch suggested it was the Greek authorities who were responsible for agreeing on the 3.5% unrealistic surplus and the austerity measures imposed on the Greek public. The Greek PM adopted a bellicose stance adamantly insisting that Greece would honour its obligations arising from the program to the tee, but that “we (Greek government) would do whatever we want with the budget surplus”.
