Twitter campaign: Who can #ExplainNoToTsipras? (Tweets in turmoil)

Never has there been so much confusion as to what ‘No’ actually means

No sooner did Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) government present its 13-page proposals that need to be approved by Greece’s EU partners and Greek parliament that the hashtag #explainNotoTsipras started trending. The new proposals, practically identical to the bailout reforms that the people had rejected during the referendum on July 5, have prompted the frustration of ‘no’ voters whose hashtag #SayNoToTsipras caused a firestorm ahead of the 7.30 p.m. gathering of NO supporters at Syntagma Square on Friday.

Far from happy, people reconfirmed their rejection of more austerity measures. “Now this is a story all about how a ‘no’ vote got flipped and turned upside down – the fresh austerity prince of Greece,” says one tweet.

Another Twitter user said that to understand know Tsipras “can borrow my phrasebook if he likes. Though strikes and occupations might make it clearer.”

“Today’s proposal must also be approved or rejected in a new #Greferendum” writes another Tweet.

“With 23% VAT on bus-train-plane tickets and cab fares, we can’t even go to hell,” is one reaction.

Another Tweet said that Tsipras is taking a move “forward back”.

Directions for “all of us who voted NO”, says one Tweet:
