3rd win for US team in WC

US women’s national soccer team won the World Cup, Sunday, in Vancouver, Canada, after an emphatic 5-2 victory against Japan in the final. The US team became the first women’s soccer outfit to win the tournament 3 times. Carli Lloyd scored the quickest goal in a Woman’s World Cup final after beating Japan’s goalkeeper in the 3rd minute, while she essentially put the fate of the match beyond reach for the Japanese when she scored a beautiful (ala-Beckman) goal in the 16th minute. The United States built 4-0 lead and was never really threatened. Japan pegged the margin in half (4-2), but the Americans scored a 5th goal to seal the victory.
