Varoufakis turns against Tsipras in Sunday’s elections

Yanis Varoufakis points to two purposes that the elections serve

Former Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis said that the general election being held on sunday is to “nullify” the wishes of Greeks. In a statement to The Press Project web site he said that two purposes are being served by the elections:

1) To “nullify” Greek people’s wishes to end the austerity reforms that 62% opposed in the July bailout.
2) To legalize the capitulation of the government’s position with the signing of the “dead end, humiliating and irrational 3rd memorandum.”

On his part, he said he would vote for the Popular Unity party, an anti-bailout group comprised of SYRIZA’s Left Platform.
