Varoufakis urges Greeks to vote against 3rd bailout plan

He says he will not collaborate with any party

Former Greek Finance Minister of the SYRIZA-ANEL government Yanis Varoufakis said he was undecided as to who he would vote in the upcoming September 20 elections, in an interview to Belgian newspaper ‘L’Echo’. He said he felt a moral obligation towards the 140,000 voters who had picked him in the previous elections and urged them to steer clear of parties that backed the 3rd bailout plan or Golden Dawn. Asked why he would not compete in the elections as an independent candidate he replied that the Greek electoral system did not allow this. He added that he did not intend to collaborate with SYRIZA or the new Popular Unity party because he disagreed with both their programs. He once again repeated his view that the new bailout program would fail, while commenting on the referendum he said that it was organised in such a way to lead to a defeat, giving the government a pretext to sign on to a bad agreement
