Violent episodes broke out with police using tear gas to disperse the demonstrators

Thessaloniki’s mayor Yannis Boutaris, HELEXPO president Tassos Tzikas and Chief of Thessaloniki Police decided to postpone the opening of Agrotica exhibition scheduled to be held today after clashed between police and Greek farmers who were gathered at the scene.

The Greek farmers participated in a demonstration outside the venue of Agrotica exhibition to protest against the social security reforms and tax hikes. According to ypaithros.gr, about 20,000 people participated the protest.

Violent episodes broke out with police using tear gas to disperse the demonstrators, while authorities along with Thessaloniki’s mayor and HELEXPO president decided to postpone the opening of the exhibition for safety reasons.
