Visiting Greece with passenger trains from abroad, once more possible

“For the first time since 2011”

Austrian Radio mentioned the fact that “for the first time since 2011, the visit of Greece by train will once again be possible”.

As underlined, since May 10th, passenger trains linking the northern Greek city and the Thessaloniki port with Bulgarian capital Sofia will be running a trip which will last seven hours, while another, daily service train, will link Thessaloniki with Serbian capital Belgrade, via Skopje.

The news reported that according to Greek Railways TRENOSE “which had ceased -in 2011- all passenger trains abroad due to the fiscal crisis” decided to bring it back since there has been a large influx of tourists to Greece from neighboring Balkan countries , combined with the exit from the crisis.
