Volos: Retired cop involved in drug trafficking ring

So far four people have been arrested while another three are wanted

A retired police officer is among those arrested today by the narcotics department in Larissa and Volos, accused of setting up and participating in a criminal organization, drug trafficking, illegal possession of firearms and violation of the Law on pyrotechnics and fireworks.

More specifically, a criminal organization which was active in drug trafficking in the region of Magnesia has been dismantled .

The 46 year old retired police officer was the leading member of the organization and allegedly directed the other members who had regional role on their actions concerning sales and transport of drugs.

The tree arrested during the police operation that took place today in Volos, are the 46 year old retired police officer, a 57 year old man and a 35 year old woman.

The police confiscated heroin weighing 42.6 grams, while during the operation, the police also arrested a 16 year old young man not as part of the organization but for violating  the Law on Narcotics.

Furthermore, during the  investigations carried out at the homes of the arrested members of the organization, the police seized: 45.9 grams of heroin, 38 drug tablets, the amount of 57.737.95 euro, a pistol, a tear, a shotgun, two batons, a dagger, 53 different types of dynamite, a private passenger car owned by the 46 year old man and six phones.

The arrested will be brought to the Prosecutor of Volos, while investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest the other members.
