“We shouldn’t have adopted the euro,” think Greeks

The majority of Greeks question the benefits that the euro has brought to Greece

As the debt crisis worsens in Greece, a number of reeks are questioning the country’s decision to convert from the Greek drachma to the euro in 2001, according to a poll conducted from May 14-June 16. Only a third of those questioned (34%) said that the common currency has been of benefit.

Greeks, however, are less doubtful concerning EU membership with 54% seeing the benefits.
