Who is the woman who harbored the fugitive terrorist C. Xiros?

The police are currently waiting for their labwork that will give them clues about the people C. Xiros was working with and whether he was behind terrorist strikes around Athens over the past few months

Police are seeking a woman who was by the side of fugitive terrorist Christodoulos Xiros while he was living at a house in Anavyssos from where he had been captured on Saturday. The well-known 58-year-old member of the Revolutionary 17 November Organization (17N) was known as Manolis and it is hoped that capturing the woman who had harbored him over the last few months could lead to other members of the group.

Investigations are currently taking place in Thessaloniki, Epirus, Aigio and Loutraki as the police have tracked calls to and from these regions though no official announcements have yet been made by the police concerning this.

The police investigating the Anavyssos hideout used by the fugitive found seven kalashnikovs and explosive devices (in a 1.5×0.5meter box), bullets and residue traces of rocket missiles. The police labs are currently trying to find genetic traces and fingerprints whereas ballistic examinations are trying to gather more information into the arms. Analysts hope that their probe may lead them to the terrorist organization known as “Popular Fighters” (Laikon Agoniston) that had struck the Israeli Embassy a few days ago as well as the offices of the conservative New Democracy Party on Syngrou Street and the German Ambassador’s home in Chalandri.

Police hope the kalashnikov will be the key that opens up a number of activities of a new generation of rebel fighters in the city.

One scenario that the police are currently looking into is whether the Anavyssos hideout was used by a number of terrorist groups working alone or collaborating amongst themselves to prepare a large-scale act of terrorism.

Mr. Xiros, the captured fugitive, will be brought before the prosecutor at noon on Sunday.
