When couples decide to spend the rest of their lives together and finally tie the knot, the new life comes part and parcel with a lot of responsibilities and burdens. What better way to express this reality of married life than to compete in the ‘wife carrying’ championship. The bizarre and quite strenuous race involves the male carrying his wife on his shoulders over a 250 metre track, among other challenges. The 2016 competition saw couples from all over the world travel to Finland for the finals. The winners this year were a couple from Russia, Anastasia Loginova and Dimitry Sagal.
