24-year-old arrested in Thrace with over 6,000 child porn files

Investigation still under way

A 24-year-old man was busted yesterday by the police cybercrime unit of northern Greece for online distribution of child pornography to users abroad.

The cybercrime police, who use online research to combat child pornography, were able to trace the suspect electronically and arrest him in northern Greece after a first-instance court prosecutor lifted confidentiality restrictions based on reasonable suspicion.
In addition to 6,000 digital files containing child pornography, the crime unit seized six mobile phones, a tablet, two laptops, three hard drives and three USB storage devices.

The confiscated electronic devices will be sent to northern Greece’s  Department of Criminal Investigations subdivision for further laboratory investigation.

The case is still under way so that the users to whom the 24-year-old distributed the files can be identified.
