298 people were “sacrificed” for Ukraine's civil war

Ukrainians and pro-Russian dispute about who shot down the Boeing of Malaysia Airlines – “we warned you not to fly in our skies” said Igor Girkin, the self-proclaimed Minister of Defence of Donetsk People’s Republic

The power game which continues between Kiev and Moscow costed the lives of 298 people… The incident that shocked everyone is still a mystery since nobody knows who finally shot down the aircraft.

However, shortly after the Boeing 777 of the Malaysian Airlines was taken down near the eastern Ukraine, the self-proclaimed Minister of Donetsk People’s Republic, Igor Girkin claimed responsibility for the falling down of the aircraft killing 298 people.

Igor Girkin, (who is also known with the name of Strelkov), according to KyivPost did not hesitate to post on his personal profile on a social networking site: “we warned you not to fly in our skies.”

However, according to a Russian press report the post of the separatist was uploaded at 16.32 (local time) before it was announced that the aircraft crashed.

However, earlier the pro-Russian separatists denied that they had shot down the aircraft accusing the Ukrainian forces of taking down the Boeing and claiming that they do not have a weapon that has a range of 10,000 meters. Also, they argued that during the last hours an array of anti-aircraft missiles was set up by the Ukrainian army.

At the same time the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Najib Razak, said that: “If the aircraft was shot down over Ukraine, the perpetrators must be brought to justice immediately.”

The new tragedy involving another Boeing 777 aircraft of the Malaysian Airlines occurred only a few months after the disappearance of MH370, while flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur.

Rescue crews which rushed in the area spoke of dismembered corpses which have been spread away 15 kilometres and said that they have spotted about 100 corpses.

According to information provided by the Ukrainian government, the aircraft was shot down by Soviet-era ground-to-air missile, while flying at a height of 10,000 meters and five minutes before entering the Russian airspace.

According to officials, the American satellites recorded the moment the plane was shot, but not the site from where the missile was launched.

“Witnesses saw a Boeing 777 being attacked by a Ukrainian fighter aircraft. Shortly after, the aircraft broke in two and fell on the ground of the Democratic Republic of Louhansk. After the attack the Ukrainian aircraft was shot down and fell on the ground of Democratic Republic of Louhansk” the official website of the self-proclaimed republic mentions, although the Ukrainian military says it has nothing to do with the plane crash.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has announced that the government has started an investigation for the incident, but called the event “a terrorist act”.
