ECB raises funds available to Greek banks

Bank of Greece says that the “safety cushion” worth 3 bln euros still available to Greece

The European Central Bank decided to raise the funds available to Greek banks from the Emergency Liquidity Assistance (ELA) system by 1.4 billion euros, to 76.9 billion euros, on Wednesday.

Sources of the Bank of Greece sources said that Greek banks have not yet exhausted the “safety cushion” of about 3 billion euros. The ECB will convene again next week to reappraise the situation concerning Greek banks.
