EU to support Cyprus over EEZ rights

EU leaders beleive that it is more important than ever to reach a comprehensive Cyprus settlement which would benefit all Cypriots

European Union concerns about the tensions that have arisen between Cyprus and Turkey in relation to hydrocarbons and is expected to express today serious concern at the Turkey’s violation of Cyprus’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ), according to the draft conclusions of the EU summit in Brussels released to the media.

“The European Council expressed serious concern about the renewed tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean,” the draft statement said calling Turkey to respect Cyprus’s sovereign rights.

The statement also mentioned that it is “more important than ever to reach a comprehensive Cyprus settlement which would benefit all Cypriots.”
