EWG meeting for Friday evening cancelled, say sources

Reports that the meeting will be postponed

EU sources point to the cancellation of the the Euro Working Group meeting scheduled between Greece and EU partners for Friday evening. The meeting is essential to unlocking a 2-bln-euro tranche for Greece at Monday’s Eurogroup, but officials in Brussels state that there is not enough clarity concerning the Greek program so as to render discussion useful.

Greek sources have yet to confirm the postponement of the meeting. In a last-ditch effort to appease Greece’s creditors, Greek Parliament voted on an omnibus bill on early Friday morning, however key issues required for a deal e.g. VAT tax for private schools, gambling tax etc. had yet to be resolved.
