Extreme weather bulletin issued by EMY

Wave of bad weather will hit tonight

The Greek Meteorological Services (EMY) issued an extraordinary bulletin warning of an extreme wave affecting many regions of the country starting on Tuesday evening from the north-west. The main characteristics will be heavy rain, storms, and strong south winds, while hail is also forecast for some areas. The phenomena will hit tonight the Ionian Islands, Western mainland Greece, and the Peloponnese.

-For Wednesday morning the regions affected will probably include the Cyclades and by mid-day the islands of the northern and eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese.
Periodic snowfall is expected tonight in the areas of Epirus (over 400-500m altitude), Thessaly and western-central mainland Greece (Sterea-over 600-700m altitude), central Macedonia and lowland areas in eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
On Wednesday, the areas of western and central Macedonia (mainly Chalkidiki) (over than 200 metres) and until afternoon hours locally in the lowlands of eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
