Varoufakis briefs ‘big capital’ in the City

Reuters claims Varoufakis will tell major international investors and bankers that Greece will be able to settle its debts

FinMin Yanis Varoufakis expressed confidence that there will soon be an agreement on Greece’s fiscal situation, speaking to British Channel 4.

At the same time, Varoufakis’ statements in the French newspaper “Le Monde” employed a metaphor from Greek mythology, saying that Athens wants to “stop emulating Sisyphus”.

Varoufakis seems willing to discuss upcoming bond payments in order to ensure that if there is another borrowing plan, it will be a viable one

The Greek FinMin met with 100 banking and market executives in the City of London, according to Reuters.

Quoting an unknown source, Reuters claims that Varoufakis is expected to tell major international investors and bankers that Greece will be able to settle its debt without becoming a burden for private investors.

According to the Financial Times, the City meeting was organized by the Bank of America, Merrill Lynch and Deutsche Bank.
