Free Wi-Fi in public transport coming soon in Athens

It is expected that by the end of May, the tender for the installation of Wi-Fi in all of OASA’s buses & trolleys, will be launched

Three thousand wireless access points to the Internet will be installed initially in public places across the country by the Digital Policy Ministry in the near future, int.ert.gr reports.

This program will enable free access to the Internet for at least one hour and initially, each hot spot will offer the possibility of simultaneous access for 50 users, while the design foresees the doubling of users in the immediate future after the program’s launch. The hotspots not in public transport, will be located at stops and platforms throughout the network.

According to the Greek Ministry of Digital Policy, the program has an initial budget of 11.8 million euros.
